That said, does Bose really deliver its promises with the Bose Soundlink On-Ear Wireless Headphones?

Do they really count as the “best-sounding headphones” in the market? Well, we are about to find out.

Here is our unbiased and comprehensive review of the Bose Soundlink On-Ear Wireless Headphones.

Bose Soundlink On-Ear Wireless Headphones Review

1. Build and Design

The Soundlink On-Ear model is quite lightweight at 5.4 ounces, so don’t worry about it exerting too much pressure on your head.

For an on-ear design, you expect them to fit securely and comfortably.

Well, Bose seems to have done a stellar job as the earcup’s padding is impressively soft and will cushion your ears without applying too much pressure.

The padding material used to construct the earcups is memory foam which perfectly conforms to your ears for added comfort.

The outer shell of the earcups is completely covered in high quality and dense plastic.

The entire package is constructed with what the manufacturer refers to as “impact-resistant” materials such as stainless steel and glass-filled nylon.

You can expect them to stay in place and resist wear and tear for a very long time. Even a few drops won’t make them crack or stop functioning.

Since the headband is also constructed with impact-resistant material, we expect it to withstand wear and tear and even resist breakage after a fall.

Still, on the headband, a microsuede Alcantra cushion covers the top part of the headband to offer extra cushioning and comfort while reducing pressure on your head.

The cushioning does this by evenly distributing the weight of the earphones around your head while enhancing stability.

You can wear them during your morning jogs or workouts and they’ll still stay in place amid all the movement.

Like most headphones, however, they may not be suitable for rigorous and intensive activities such as running or jumping- they might not stay in place.

Their stability is also enhanced by the wireless design which prevents cables from getting hooked to external objects or accidentally getting yanked off by your hand.

The hinges are quite strong and stable so the probability of them breaking off or getting damaged due to wear and tear is minimal.

However, intense physical stress could severely damage them, so good care and maintenance are important.

The headphones are available in two colors; White and Black.

Overall, the Bose Soundlink On-Ear headphones are built to last and their compact design makes storage even much easier.

Their aesthetics are top-notch plus the fact that they are constructed with impact-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials makes them extremely durable.

So if you’re looking for headphones that will last countless years with good care and maintenance, then the Bose Soundlink is your go-to model.

2. Comfort

The Bose Soundlink headphones are built to offer superior support thanks to their carefully crafted design that lets you enjoy an exceptional listening experience for extended periods.

As stated earlier, the headband is decently padded with high quality and comfortable micro-suede Alcantra material.

The material offers just enough cushioning to reduce pressure on your head by evenly distributing the weight of the headphones while enhancing stability.

The headband also feels light, so little to no pressure is exerted on your head.

The earcups are lightweight as well. Coupled with the soft padding, the earcups will also reduce the amount of pressure exerted on your ears.

Plus the outer material on the earcups is breathable so you’ll never have to worry about sweaty ears.

Overall, the headphones provide a comfortable and secure fit you should feel at ease with them even for longer periods.

3. Sound Quality and Noise Cancellation

If you’re a huge fan of Bose headphones, then you’re aware of their decent sound quality and noise cancellation.

The Bose Soundlink model is no different. It’s one of the best on-ear wireless headphones in terms of sound.

Combining the powerful TriPort technology and Active EQ, the Bose Soundlink delivers excellent sound clarity and power despite the volume level.

Turn down the volume while at work and enjoy a soothing and relaxing sound or turn it up while working out or commuting, while blocking out all the external distractions.

Want to take or make a call in a noisy coffee shop, busy street, in traffic, or in a windy area? No worries.

Thanks to the inbuilt microphone system integrated with HD voice, the Soundlink model provides excellent clarity that lacks in most of its competitors.

In other words, you’ll always enjoy the convenience of clear and completely natural sounds at both ends of calls even in the noisiest environments.

And thanks to the easy to use controls on the earcups, you can take or end calls without reaching for your device since the headphones are wireless.

Overall, the Soundlink headphones offer much better sound clarity and noise cancellation compared to competitors.

Although such an excellent performance comes with a heavy price tag, it’s totally worth it.

Plus given that Bose headphones are some of the most popular in the market, you have every reason to trust in their performance and excellence

4. Easy to Use Controls

The headphones feature a remote control with buttons located on the right earcup. Tap the middle control button to answer calls, playback music, or even skip tracks.

With the controls, controlling music and other functions in varying devices such as Samsung, Apple, and Android has never been easier. Overall, the button layout and functionality is quite excellent.

5. Offers Seamless Switching between Devices

The Bose Soundlink headphones let you easily switch between two connected Bluetooth devices.

This is all made possible by the Bose App that lets you go from listening to your favorite tracks from your tablet to taking calls on your phone or even watching movies on your laptop- with just a single swipe.

In other words, the Bose App gives you complete control over your devices and every other feature on the headphones.

Overall, the Soundlink headphones are designed to offer you an exceptional wireless experience that you won’t find in most headphone brands.

6. Battery Life

The Bose Soundlink On-Ear headphones are powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery that offers up to 15 hours of continuous playtime and active noise-cancelling.

When set at average volume, 15 hours is the maximum you’ll get, which is great.

Now 15 hours is an adequate amount of time for most people, especially those on long flights or road trips since frequent recharges won’t be necessary.

Included is a USB charging cable plus setting the auto-time in the Bose App will help save power while extending the life of the battery.

On the flip side, you cannot use the headphones while charging. This means that you won’t be able to enjoy music or even make phone calls for up to 2.5 hours, which is the maximum number of hours the battery takes to fully charge.

Yes, of course, it sucks but this also helps ensure the battery performance remains optimal.

7. Storage and Portability

The Soundlink headphones fold flat for easy storage in the included protective case. They might not fit into your pockets but they’ll surely fit into your bag.

What We Didn’t Like about the Bose Soundlink On-Ear Headphones

The whole package feels, looks, and performs great. That’s for sure as it’s the norm with every Bose headphones.

However, while some headphones (even Bose models) offer up to 35 hours, the Soundlink gives you only 15 hours.

Of course, this is more than enough for most people but lots of headphones users would really appreciate more hours.

Also, the fact that the headphones are only available in two colors is a bummer. Different people have different preferences. It would be better if they added more color variations.

Overall, despite the few minor drawbacks, the Bose Soundlink headphones are amazing.

The technology is great, the sound quality is revolutionary, and the quality is top-notch. They offer everything you’ve always wished for in a pair of headphones.

Bose Soundlink Headphones Review- Final Verdict

They might be a bit pricey but given their superior performance and quality build, they are totally worth it.

Furthermore, Bose has never failed its customers as far as quality and performance are concerned.

So if you’re searching for a pair of wireless headphones that will take your listening experience to a whole new level, you’ll never go wrong with the Bose Soundlink On-Ear Headphones.
